Welcome to Madagascar. On arrival at Ivato International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel in Antananarivo.

The first day is kept relaxed after your international flight. Depending on arrival time, a welcome briefing can be arranged at the hotel. Your guide will explain the southern route, rainforest visits, domestic flights, western 4x4 section, Tsingy visit, Sainte-Marie island section, and honeymoon rhythm of the trip.

This is also a good time to prepare walking shoes, light clothes, sun protection, insect repellent, rain protection, camera equipment, swimwear, and a small daypack.

Accommodation: Maison Gallieni, Relais des Plateaux, San Cristobal Boutique Hotel, or similar

After breakfast, leave Antananarivo in a private vehicle and drive south through the central highlands. The road passes rice fields, red-earth villages, traditional houses, market towns, and rural landscapes.

A stop can be made in Ambatolampy, known for traditional aluminum pot workshops. This is a good cultural introduction where you can observe local craftsmanship.

Continue to Antsirabe, a charming highland town known for its cool climate, pousse-pousse rickshaws, thermal history, gemstone workshops, embroidery, horn craft, and colonial-style atmosphere.

Depending on arrival time, enjoy a short city tour, craft visit, or a relaxed evening at the hotel.

Accommodation: Couleur Café, Royal Palace, Plumeria Hotel Antsirabe, or similar

After breakfast, continue south from Antsirabe toward Ranomafana. The road crosses highland villages, rice terraces, hills, valleys, and beautiful rural scenery.

A stop can be made in Ambositra, Madagascar’s famous woodcarving and marquetry town. This is a good cultural stop to discover workshops, local craftsmanship, and highland artistry.

Continue toward Ranomafana, where the landscape becomes greener and more mountainous. Arrival in Ranomafana introduces a completely different atmosphere, with humid forest valleys, waterfalls, and lush rainforest scenery.

Depending on arrival time, an optional night walk can be arranged near the park boundary for frogs, chameleons, geckos, insects, and possible mouse lemurs.

Accommodation: Setam Lodge, Thermal Hotel, or similar

Today is dedicated to Ranomafana National Park, one of Madagascar’s most important rainforest reserves.

With a local guide, explore forest trails in search of lemurs, birds, frogs, chameleons, orchids, and rainforest scenery. Possible sightings include Golden Bamboo Lemur, eastern bamboo lemur, red-bellied lemur, Milne-Edwards’ sifaka, and other rainforest species depending on the trail and wildlife movement.

The park is also excellent for smaller details: mosses, ferns, orchids, insects, waterfalls, and forest textures. The rainforest atmosphere is romantic and immersive, especially in the morning.

After the visit, return to the hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening.

Accommodation: Setam Lodge, Thermal Hotel, or similar

After breakfast, leave Ranomafana and return toward the RN7. The road passes forested hills, rice fields, villages, and the Fianarantsoa region before continuing south to Ambalavao.

Ambalavao is known for its beautiful mountain setting, Antemoro paper workshops, silk weaving, vineyards, and Betsileo culture. Depending on arrival time, visit a paper workshop or enjoy a short town discovery.

The surrounding granite landscapes create a dramatic and romantic atmosphere, especially in the late afternoon.

Accommodation: Betsileo Country Lodge, Tsienimparihy Lodge, Aux Bougainvillées, or similar

After breakfast, visit Anja Community Reserve, one of the best places in Madagascar to observe ring-tailed lemurs in a natural setting.

The reserve is community-managed and protects dry forest pockets among granite boulders, caves, and viewpoints. Ring-tailed lemurs are often seen moving through trees, resting on rocks, or traveling in groups. The setting is very photogenic and perfect for couples who want wildlife and scenery together.

After the visit, continue south across the wide Horombe Plateau toward Ranohira, gateway to Isalo National Park. The scenery changes into open grasslands, dry landscapes, and sandstone formations.

If timing allows, enjoy sunset near the Window of Isalo or another viewpoint.

Accommodation: Isalo Rock Lodge, Jardin du Roy, Relais de la Reine, Satrana Lodge, or similar

Today is dedicated to Isalo National Park, one of Madagascar’s most beautiful landscape parks.

With a local guide, explore the park according to your preferred pace. A classic visit can include Namaza Canyon, natural pools, dry forest trails, sandstone massifs, canyon viewpoints, and swimming areas where permitted.

Possible wildlife includes ring-tailed lemurs, Verreaux’s sifaka, red-fronted brown lemur, birds, reptiles, and butterflies. The contrast between sandstone cliffs, green canyon vegetation, and natural pools makes this a wonderful honeymoon adventure day.

After the visit, return to the lodge and enjoy a relaxed evening in the dramatic Isalo landscape.

Accommodation: Isalo Rock Lodge, Jardin du Roy, Relais de la Reine, Satrana Lodge, or similar

After breakfast, leave Ranohira and begin the return journey north toward Fianarantsoa. This is a long scenic drive back across the Horombe Plateau, through Ambalavao landscapes, Betsileo villages, rice terraces, and highland scenery.

Depending on timing, short photo stops can be made along the way for landscapes, village scenes, or mountain views.

Arrive in Fianarantsoa, an important highland city known for its old town, viewpoints, Betsileo culture, and surrounding rice terraces. Check in at the hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening.

Accommodation: Tsara Guest House, Zomatel, Lac Hotel, or similar

After breakfast, depart early for the long drive back to Antananarivo. The road passes through Ambositra, Antsirabe, highland valleys, villages, rice terraces, and traditional houses.

Stops can be made for comfort breaks, photos, or final highland craft shopping depending on timing.

Arrive in Antananarivo in the late afternoon or evening and check in at the hotel. This night gives a practical and comfortable buffer before flying to Morondava the next day.

Accommodation: Maison Gallieni, Relais des Plateaux, San Cristobal Boutique Hotel, or similar

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the domestic flight from Antananarivo to Morondava. Upon arrival, meet your local driver-guide and continue by private 4x4 toward Kirindy Forest.

The road to Kirindy passes through western dry landscapes, baobab scenery, villages, and red-earth tracks. Depending on flight timing, a guided afternoon walk or night walk can be arranged in Kirindy.

Kirindy is one of Madagascar’s best dry forest reserves. Possible sightings include Verreaux’s sifaka, red-fronted brown lemur, birds, reptiles, baobabs, dry forest plants, and signs of fossa activity. During a night walk, possible wildlife includes mouse lemurs, sportive lemurs, geckos, sleeping chameleons, spiders, insects, owls, and night birds.

Accommodation: Relais du Kirindy or similar

Start the day with a guided morning walk in Kirindy Forest, when wildlife is often more active before the heat becomes strong. The guide will search for Verreaux’s sifaka, red-fronted brown lemur, birds, reptiles, and signs of fossa activity. The fossa is wild and never guaranteed, but Kirindy is one of the best places in Madagascar to search for it.

After the morning forest visit, leave Kirindy and begin the 4x4 journey toward Bekopaka, gateway to Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park.

The road is adventurous and scenic, passing through dry forest, western villages, baobab landscapes, ferry crossings, red-earth tracks, and open countryside. The journey usually passes through Belo-sur-Tsiribihina, an important stop before continuing toward Bekopaka.

Arrival in Bekopaka is usually late afternoon or evening depending on road and ferry conditions. Check in at the lodge and rest before the Tsingy adventure the next day.

Accommodation: Soleil des Tsingy, Orchidée du Bemaraha, Olympe du Bemaraha, or similar

After breakfast, begin the day with the Manambolo Gorge excursion. This peaceful river experience is usually done by traditional pirogue and offers beautiful views of limestone cliffs, caves, river reflections, birds, and local boat life.

The calm rhythm of the gorge gives a scenic and romantic contrast to the adventure of the Tsingy. Local guides explain the geology, culture, and natural history connected to the gorge.

Later, continue with the spectacular Grand Tsingy, one of Madagascar’s most famous natural wonders. With a local specialist guide, explore limestone pinnacles, narrow passages, caves, viewpoints, suspension bridges, and dry forest pockets.

The Grand Tsingy circuit can involve ladders, harness sections, sharp limestone, and narrow passages, so good walking shoes and a moderate level of fitness are recommended. The reward is unforgettable: panoramic views over the stone forest, dramatic cliffs, hidden passages, and one of the most unique landscapes in Africa.

Possible wildlife includes Decken’s sifaka, red-fronted brown lemur, birds, chameleons, reptiles, and dry forest species depending on the circuit and wildlife movement.

Accommodation: Soleil des Tsingy, Orchidée du Bemaraha, Olympe du Bemaraha, or similar

After breakfast, depart early from Bekopaka and begin the long return journey to Morondava. The road crosses ferry points, dry countryside, villages, red tracks, baobab landscapes, and open western scenery.

Depending on timing, short stops can be made for photos and local scenes along the way. The route is long, but it is one of the classic western Madagascar adventure roads.

The goal is to reach the famous Avenue of the Baobabs for sunset. This is one of the most romantic moments of the itinerary. The giant baobabs become silhouettes against golden, orange, and purple skies, creating a magical atmosphere for honeymoon photos.

After sunset, continue to Morondava and check in at the hotel.

Accommodation: Palissandre Côte Ouest, Kimony Resort, or similar

After breakfast, transfer to Morondava Airport for the flight to Antananarivo, then continue onward to Sainte-Marie according to the final domestic flight schedule.

This is a major connection day and requires careful flight coordination. If the connection works the same day, arrive in Sainte-Marie and transfer to the beach hotel for a relaxed island evening.

Sainte-Marie immediately changes the atmosphere of the journey. After the highlands, rainforest, Isalo, Kirindy, Tsingy, and baobabs, the island offers coconut palms, beach air, fishing villages, and a softer coastal rhythm.

Accommodation: Princesse Bora Lodge & Spa, Soanambo Hotel, Libertalia Hotel, or similar

Today is dedicated to whale watching, one of Sainte-Marie’s most famous seasonal experiences.

During the humpback whale migration season, Sainte-Marie is one of Madagascar’s best places to observe whales. A responsible whale-watching excursion can be arranged with local operators, following respectful viewing rules and safety guidelines.

The experience may include whale sightings, blows, tails, breaches, mother-and-calf behavior, and beautiful sea landscapes. Sightings are never guaranteed, as whales are wild animals, but Sainte-Marie is well known for this seasonal activity.

If traveling outside whale season or if sea conditions are not suitable, the day can be adapted with a boat excursion, beach relaxation, island discovery, cycling, lagoon visit, or coastal cultural activities.

Accommodation: Princesse Bora Lodge & Spa, Soanambo Hotel, Libertalia Hotel, or similar

After breakfast, enjoy a romantic excursion to Île aux Nattes, a small island located just south of Sainte-Marie. This is one of the most beautiful and peaceful island experiences in the region.

Île aux Nattes is known for white sand beaches, turquoise lagoon, palm trees, pirogues, small walking paths, and a quiet tropical atmosphere. The island is ideal for a slow honeymoon day with beach walks, swimming, lagoon views, photos, and lunch by the sea depending on final arrangements.

The excursion can be organized by local boat depending on tide, sea conditions, and the location of your hotel.

Return to Sainte-Marie in the afternoon and enjoy a final island evening.

Accommodation: Princesse Bora Lodge & Spa, Soanambo Hotel, Libertalia Hotel, or similar

After breakfast, transfer to Sainte-Marie Airport for the flight back to Antananarivo. Upon arrival in Tana, connect with your international departure if timing allows.

If the international flight is late at night, a day-use room, craft market visit, or short city stop can be arranged. If the connection is tight, an extra overnight in Antananarivo is recommended for safety.

The tour ends after a grand romantic Madagascar honeymoon through Antsirabe, Ranomafana, Ambalavao, Anja Reserve, Isalo, Fianarantsoa, Morondava, Kirindy, Tsingy de Bemaraha, the Avenue of the Baobabs, Sainte-Marie, and Île aux Nattes.
